MEMORABILIA
C A Rhodes was a much respected measurer of time trial courses. The following article by him, which explains the mysteries of this task, is repoduced from the 1938 Yorkshire Cycling Federation handbook.
C A Rhodes was a prominent administrator, who was very forthright in his views and in formulating policies for the successful control of road cycle sport as it became so popular during the 1930's. The following article, reproduced from the Yorkshire Cycling Federation handbook of 1939, demonstrates his early opposition to the establishment of the Road Time Trials Council. He later changed his views and worked strongly for that organisation.
C A Rhodes was a prolific timekeeper. This grainy period photograph shows him "on duty" some time in the late 1930's and is reproduced from the Yorkshire Road Club 1991 centenary celebration book.
This caricature of C A Rhodes is from the same period.
And finally........... This short profile of C A Rhodes is also taken from the Yorkshire Road Club 1991 centenary celebration book.
C A Rhodes had strong views, as shown in this extract from the 1958 YCF handbook
